I always get excited when a new client emails me wanting to set up a session. I love even more when people who have crossed my path in my life at some point, regardless of keeping in contact or just Facebook friends, contact me to set up a session! Niki is one of those people. We were in the clarinet section for a few years (until I switched to the brass section) in our TU Marching Band days, and we were friendly then. Fast forward many years later… Niki met Andrew. I remember seeing on Facebook her gushing over her new man, and I knew there was something special there. So you can probably picture my face when I saw an inquiry from Niki for a session to celebrate her and Andrew’s two year anniversary. Uhh… YEAH! This couple is not only down to earth, but some of the goofy and hilarious and loving couples I know. I loved watching Niki sign to Andrew, him signing back and her cracking up after his response. It’s those little things no matter how you can communicate, that makes a relationship special. Plus, their dog Dakota!! She was so sweet and just LOVED being in front of my lens. I’m sure if that dog had hair, she would be flipping it like a model cause she knows she’s pretty! It was great to reconnect with Niki and meet the guy who swept her off her feet! I had a BLAST during our session and know you will be show casing your lovely images in your new home together!

I loved watching them signing to each other!

Their dog Dakota was the SWEETEST dog ever! She loved sitting with my assistant while we were shooting around Federal Hill.

I can’t describe in words how much I love to have a couple so in love in front of my lens. There is something about love and happiness is so contagious. Susie and Mario have that wonderful love and care for each other, and it was such a pleasure to photograph them. I knew Susie from our TU marching band days, so it was such an honor for me photograph another “band alumni family member”. She’s such a sweetheart, and I am so happy that she and Mario found each other. We met up for a sunset session in the heart of DC, the National Mall. Unfortunately, Mother Nature rolled in clouds and took away my beautiful light, but that didn’t stop me to help document their session! We had a blast walking around to a handful of monuments, taking in all this history this city has to offer. We even saw a family of ducks by the reflecting pool (which of course I had to include in the blog post!), and of course ended at the beautifully lit up DC war memorial for some beautiful night photos.

They are getting married this December, so help me wish them well and congratulations on the blog! Congratulations Susie and Mario!

Want to book a session with Erica Abbey Photography? We only have a handful of dates left for 2014, but already booking for 2015! Email erica at erica@ericaabbeyphotography.com to chat and plan your session today! 🙂

My first day at band camp for my freshman year at Towson, Greg was one of the first people I met. Ever since then we’ve been great friends. So after he proposed to the love of his life, Greg and his fiancé Martha asked me if I would photograph their engagement photos. I was really honored he asked me and couldn’t wait to photograph them! When it comes to photographing close friends, you would think that it would make me nervous. Not at all! It always brings me so much joy when my friends ask me to photograph them because they not only respect me as a person but respect and love my artistic eye.

Martha and Greg are one of the SWEETEST couples I know. Their kindness and sense of humor is contagious and you can’t stop smiling when you are around these two. They are getting ready to plan their wedding and I know it’s going to be amazing! Martha loves to read, so we started off our session at Ukazoo bookstore in Towson (LOVED this fun location!) and ended at a beautiful garden in Montgomery County. Enjoy Greg and Martha’s offbeat engagement session!

Greg plays the ukulele and wanted to bring it to the session to play for Martha. What you don’t know is that I asked him to play a romantic song for her, and he starts playing and singing “Party in the USA” Oh, Greg! This is one of the reason why we are friends :-p.
